Hey all. I finally got around to watermarking some logo designs I did for a neighbor and friend's band called (as if it weren't already obvious) "State Of Mind". I collaborated with frontman and vocalist Dan Warry-Smith (I know he's the vocalist, so Dan if I missed anything let me know) and together we came up with some unique and I'd say interesting logo designs. Now, I don't own the designs anymore hence the watermarking but the band has a MySpace page here: http://www.myspace.com/stateofmindlive where you can check out the band, info, all that other myspace stuff and of course, their MUSIC!!!
The first of hopefully many Zoo trips this summer. Sinse I'm not working yet I'm trying to get out more and be more active as well as work on things at home. These are some drawings I did last Friday (the 26th) That little triangle on the Rhino was actually a bird that sat first on his back like ive drawn, then on his larger horn, facing him where they had a staring competition for a while. Unfortunetaly the Rhino left view after I had drawn him for a bit so this is fairly incomplete and knowing me thats the way itll stay
I'm not actually sure if that Rhino is a male or not. Anyone have a clue?
Heres something new I've been working away at and sort of struggling with. I'm not used to painting with photoshop outside of making textures, so I gave this a try. Its part of a larger portfolio piece, so no more hints about that.
I did a quick little piece of animation based off of a few characters from the Excel commercial. Its just something quick and simple that I created for someone special in my life right now and I'm hopefully going to turn the frames into an actual flip book that they can have. Enjoy!
I'ts finally done! After a few months, all of the renderings finished, the video editings complete and all of the videos are on youtube as well as being DVD ready. In order, we have: The actual demo reel, which showcases the better pieces of my demo reel
My new 3-D demo reel, which focuses on just the 3-D aspects of my reel
The 2-D portion of my reel, which consists of Dex Hamilton Layouts as well as some older layouts.
*PLEASE NOTE* The Dex Hamilton Layouts on this demo reel as well as any others on my blog were never actually used for the show. They are new clean versions from the original roughs I took home with me at the end of my contract. Enjoy!
Now with Strutts!!! I decided to try and minimize the ammount of shaders/textures I would have to make for the strutts by making them as a group and shading them randomly. Theres still alot of tweeking left to be done and the lighting really doesnt help. I don't want to start using more dynamic lights untill all of the new Geo is in the scene and they're all properly textured. More to come...
I've been keeping myself overly burdened and busy with the re-doing of the tunnel from my previous demo reel. This time around, I actually know what to do so I've been attempting to do it correctly. The tunnel, even just for this shot, had to be broken into 8 pieces so that I could properly UV and texture them. There are still a few things that need tweaking and obviously theres alot of detail missing from the shots (beams, clutter, tools, rocks etc) but I found that the end result of the tunnel so far already looks far better than the old tunnel. I've also been playing around with depth of field. We'll see if I keep it though.
